Bill Blanchard's Little Big Band

Bill Blanchard's Little Big Band Bill Blanchard's Little Big Band is a 7-Piece Band made up of 4 saxes, which provide the Big Band sound, keyboard, bass and drums.  Also available with the band are the Harmony Sisters, a trio of female vocalists.  Bill wanted to develop a group that had a full sound with a minimum number of players.  After experimenting with several instrumental combinations he settled on the use of two alto and two tenor saxophones, plus keyboard, bass and drums.  Since the group often plays in small venues, the full sound of the sax section is not overpowering.  If more volume is needed, we have a sound system that can fill a large auditorium or ballroom.

The current membership of the band provides a variety of sounds, with three doubling clarinet, and others doubling soprano sax, baritone sax, and flute.  The Harmony Sisters add a great versatility, interest and vitality to our performance capabilities.

Bill creates all of the arrangements and adaptations for the band and trio and thus is able to provide special music for all occasions.  Because the repertoire of the band emphasizes music written in the 1940's, most of our bookings are for "Senior Citizens," 80th birthdays, 50th wedding anniversaries, and 50th class reunions. However, we'll play (for pay!) for anyone who enjoys listening and/or dancing to our music.
